Photos of and comments about (mostly) sights and sites along the Columbia River and the vessels plying it. There will, no doubt, be occasional hints of wood aluminum and fibreglass...

Bounty
Taken over the summer. This is the replica HMS Bounty used in the film. She was docked at the 17th St. Pier in Astoria for a few days. I almost wish the bridge wasn't in the background, but if you've ever been here before, it certainly helps identify the place!
I live on the edge of the Columbia River, a few miles upstream from the Pacific. I miss my hometown of Portland, but at the same time, I love this little community, and especially my space within it.
I'm a native Oregonian brought up in the shadow of the likes of Wayne Morse, Tom McCall and Mark Hatfield... people who led with character and conviction, not by giving themselves a brand.
A "serious amateur" photographer for more than 30 years, I'm seldom found without at least one camera within reach.
It pains me to have to state the obvious and clutter up the room, but you are NOT authorized to copy or use any of the images or text here without my permission. Really.
